If you're stilling feeling "off", health officials at the CDC know Physical Therapy at Southwest Therapy Specialists makes a substantial difference: we'll help focus on the prolonged debilitation issues such as: fatigue, shortness of breath, joint pain, chest pain with exertion, muscle pain, balance and risk for falls, and depression due to lack of exercise or movement. "I am so happy, I want to cry! This is the first time in weeks I am able to exercise and this Aquatic program is my lifesaver!"(long hauler Covid patient) We are ready to help!

Do you provide cupping?

(602) 249-9129.

How do veterans come for pain to be reduced?

Active duty and veterans receive authorization through the VA, as we participate with Community Care Network (CCN); with TriWest authorizing the benefits through the Veterans Choice Program (VCP). Ask the VA Doctor, CCN Doctor or VA Physical Therapist for a referral. We look forward to serving you.

What is suspension training-unloaded training?

A physical support system in our land based Physical Therapy treatment OR fully unloaded in our 7 foot deep Aquatic Therapy pool: ability to push, pull, twist, squat, lunge, bend or do suspension for painfree gait. Ability to do either of these two methods are unique to our practice. Conquer what you can not do on land, on your own!

Do you do total joint replacement therapy? What about total transplant rehab?

Absolutely! Life changing. Replacements with total transplants have been a strength of our team to help. Arm transplants, finger, hand and wrist transplants since 1984. Hip, shoulder, knee total joint replacements since 1989. Advancements of function combined with our excellence in swelling and scar mobilization. When other competitor therapists tell their patient, "there's nothing more we can do..." OMG, we should have been seeing the patient from the first post-op referral. "Failed PT" diagnosis is not acceptable. Call us today. Have the doctor refer to SWTS. We are here to serve...game on!

How did you achieve 'Best Physical Therapists in Phoenix' for four consecutive years?

You and your family/friend deserve the best of care. Compared to over 357 Physical Therapy businesses in the Phoenix metro area, "Expertise" scored SWTS the Best for 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020. -Reputation (we have a history of delighted customers who refer their friends and family for our outstanding service);
-Experience (recognized nationally as masters of rehabilitation with practical experience and education that we pass onto you);
-Service professionalism (with honesty, integrity, reliability and respect).

Expect the Best! Ask your doctor to refer you to Southwest Therapy Specialists. You deserve to be seen at a practice above all the rest.

Why does my pain feel like burning?

Recognizing pain patterns is an area of expertise of our team. Burning pain typically shows a neurogenic or nerve cause. Similar descriptions may include: sharp, searing, pricking, electrical, itchy, stinging, shooting to list a few. We teach how to manage a nerve pattern pain to successfully regain control of the pain.

I just don't have the energy now. When I do try to walk my muscles cramp and ache. Can you help?

The concept "Use it or lose it" may apply here as muscles need to be exercised or begin to atrophy or waste. Weight gain can contribute. as well as muscle and skeleton (bone) issues. If there are no known causes, we can help with the aches, soreness, dull, cramp, and/or deep pain that may simply be a de-conditioning. We'll teach you the safe methods to focus on your needs. Not a cookie cutter approach of one method for all. Personalized! Let's do this together.

Do I need a doctor's referral to come to physical therapy?

You can come directly to Southwest Therapy Specialists for physical therapy - Aquatic Therapy - or Certified Hand Therapy at any time. By avoiding the insurance company, and seeing us direct for personalized care, you pay out of pocket at the time of service, just as you do at a gym for those non-licensed trainers.

I'm in so much pain. Can you help?

Pain Management is one of our corner stones for serving our patients. Over 35 years of working to teach how to manage pain, rather than the pain controlling the person. Have your doctor fax a referral to (602) 249-4115, and call us (602) 249-9129 to check if we are providers for your insurance carrier. We look forward to serving you.

Can I be seen directly without a doctor's order?

Paying for the service without having the insurance carrier billed. Simply needing instruction and the licensed therapist's knowledge? We serve the community with care under our license acts. Call us (602) 249-9129 and ask about Cash Pay (cash, credit card, debit card, check paid at the time the service is rendered). Usually we can see you the same day you call!

Can I lose weight doing Aquatic Therapy?

Absolutely yes! Certainly diet changes are a part of an overall plan to lose weight, yet toning and weight loss naturally happens with the resistance of water. Success...several patients have been in consistent attendance working out unloaded in our indoor pool and have individually lost more than 150 to 200 lbs. each. We are so supportive of these individuals. How can we encourage you to get started with us? Don't wait. Call (602) 249-9129 and have your doctor orders faxed to (602) 249-4115 today.
