FAQs
Is the Garden open to the public?

Visitors are welcomed during our Open Garden Days and other garden events open to the public.

Is there a cost to join the garden?

There is no cost to being a garden member and adopting a garden plot. We ask your time for the first season to maintain your plot and volunteer at the garden. If you wish to continue a second season, a membership fee of $25 is requested.

What do I need to do when I get a garden plot?

Once you have a garden plot, you will need to prepare to garden soil by weeding, pulling any old plants, and aging compost. We can help you choose what to plant and how to plant. Once you plant, you will need to water regularly and as directed. You can assist with the garden water schedule. When ready, we can guide you with your harvesting.

The Community Garden

As of 2022, we have built 30 garden plots. The CLG Board of Directors estimate that up to 120 garden plots of various sizes can be created with the potential to also have special growing areas. In addition, We continue to build benches, shade canopies, tool sheds and compost areas to support our community gardeners. The property is centrally located within five miles of the cities of Reedley, Orange Cove and Dinuba, California.

Our CLG Open Garden Days continue to attract volunteers that help to build and maintain our garden and help with planting and harvest events. Our volunteers are the engine that keeps our organization moving forward and we are eternally grateful. We continue to seek people interested in being a part of this growing community garden.

CLG Food Giving

The Community Life Garden (CLG) Food Giving program was created as a resource to local food charities. The CLG Board recognizes the need to support these charities that help families with their food and nutritional needs.

The CLG Food Giving Program is using specific areas of its community garden to create produce to donate. The CLG Open Garden Events help build, maintain and harvest these areas.

in 2021 and 2022, CLG donated about 1,500 pounds of produce. In 2019, our third year of Food Giving, we donated 1,200 pounds of produce to our local food pantries. In 2018, thanks to all our volunteers, CLG donated almost 600 pounds of produce. In 2017, our first year of food giving, CLG donated almost 200 pounds.
